Does A Whole-House Dehumidifier Really Make A Difference?
A whole-house dehumidifier can be an excellent way to lower the humidity in your entire home without having several portable dehumidifiers, but there are some people who wonder if it really makes a difference. The answer to that is a solid “yes”– it absolutely does make a difference, as just about anybody who lives in a home equipped with one can tell you.
Decreasing Humidity
Dropping the humidity with a whole-house dehumidifier can make the indoor climate much more comfortable, especially on muggy days. Your air conditioner dehumidifies the air somewhat, but nowhere near as much as a dedicated dehumidifier. One that is built in to your HVAC system will dehumidify your entire house as opposed to just one room per unit.
Preventing Mold and Mildew
Mold and mildew buildup in places that can’t effectively remove moisture from the air can be a big problem. A whole-house dehumidifier helps to take this moisture out of the air, without the need to have a dehumidifier in small places like a bathroom, or a kitchen. As a result, mold spores can’t reproduce, and mildew stains will have a much less likely chance of appearing.
